Our County Farmers

One of the less well known roles of a county council is that of landlord, and despite many land sales over the last couple of decades, the county still owns several farms. This falls within the Environment & Planning portfolio which I hold, and I was pleased to meet some of our tenants last week to understand some of the current challenges our farming community face.Farm

I attended the annual town meeting yesterday to hear about the work of the town council and to respond to residents’ questions on various topics including forthcoming road repairs, the recent flooding and speeding.

Bucks Cabinet supports National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day

Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is a form of sexual abuse that involves the manipulation and/or coercion of young people under the age of 18 into sexual activity. As a member of the Buckinghamshire County Council cabinet, I amĀ pleased to support this initiative with the #HelpingHands campaign. More details can be found here.

Akeley Parish Council

basketballI attended theĀ Akeley Parish Council meeting and updated the council and residents on a number of recent events from the county council and district council. I was also pleased to hear that the new basketball hoop I supported through my Community Leader’s Fund had been installed and was already being well used.
